New York-based artist, KAWS has transcended the perceived boundaries of street art. The KAWS x Air Jordan 4 is officially scheduled to release March 31st, for a whopping $350. After much speculation, this once inconceivable concept is now a reality. Premium, Air Jordan iterations have made occasional splashes in this increasingly high profile market. Sneakerheads view footwear through an artistic lens, hence their appreciation for Brian Donnelly’s collaborative effort. The 43-year-old Brooklyn-Bred artist has art in museums and galleries internationally. His resume’ includes designing toys, cartoons, and now limited quantity kicks!
The Kaws x Air Jordan 4 includes a silky, grey suede upper which rests atop a glow-in-the-dark sole. If you're familiar with his work, you may notice similarities to some of his Companion pieces. His signature is included on the heel tab, taking the place of a traditional Jumpman logo. Even the box includes KAWS branding, further solidifying these as a collector’s piece. A hangtag is also included, similar to most Air Jordan IV Releases.
As mentioned earlier, the Kaws x Air Jordan 4 collaboration will be available March 31st for $350. However, if you live in China you can scoop a pair on the 28th. You can test your luck at select Jordan Brand locations, including the Nike SNKRS app. Don’t expect these to be an easy cop, considering they’re classified as a limited release. In addition, there’ll be an accompanying line of apparel including jackets, sweatshirts, t-shirts, and hats. Stay tuned for more sneaker related news!
