Space Jam Jordan 11 Restoration and Deep Clean
Learn how to clean the Space Jam Jordan 11 with RESHOEVN8R
Everybody Loves the Air Jordan 11
Somewhere in a galaxy far away, there’s a pair of Space Jam Jordan 11s that still look deadstock…well this isn’t that galaxy. Our pair of Space Jam Jordan 11s are cooked and in desperate need of a full restoration courtesy of the master himself, Vick Almighty.
Today Vick is going to walk you through how to restore an Air Jordan 11, including how to unyellow the icy sole of the Jordan 11. With a little patience and the proper tools, this pair of Space Jam Jordan 11s should come out of this looking brand new.
How do you feel about the Space Jam 11s? How would you rank them on your personal Mount Rushmore of Air Jordan 11 colorways? Personally, I would rank the Concords as no. 1, but the Space Jams are a close second.
There’s something about that all-black colorway with the hit of blue on the Jumpman that speaks to me. Let’s get these bad boys cleaned up and on their way.
Out of this World Clean
Vick started this sneaker restoration by removing the shoelaces and inserting the Adjustable Shoe Tree. The Space Jam Jordan 11 we’re working with today happens to be a massive size 14…normally our Shoe Trees wouldn’t be long enough to fit a shoe this size, but we just started offering Adjustable Shoe Trees that fit anywhere from a size 12 to 18…we’re the only company out there looking out for those of you with bigger feet!
Cleaning the Space Jam Jordan 11 proved to be the easiest part of this sneaker restoration. Vick used the Soft Bristle Brush on the upper, Medium Bristle Brush on the midsole, and Stiff Bristle Brush to clean the outsole. Although this sneaker is 6 years old it cleaned up immaculately thanks to the RESHOEVN8R Essential Kit.
With the cleaning out of the way, Vick shifted gears and got started on some of the real, nitty-gritty restoration work, starting with the midsole. The foam midsole on the Air Jordan 11 is prone to creasing, but luckily Vick knows a little trick to fix that. Vick used a heat gun to gently remove the creases from the midsole in a matter of seconds. If you’re going to try this trick yourself, be careful to avoid heating it up too much - this can cause the midsole to expand or warp.
How to Unyellow Jordan 11 Soles
The midsole is looking much better, but something just feels off…the sole is still that nasty yellow color. Vick applied RESHOEVN8R Sole Revive to the yellow portions of the once-icy outsole, wrapped it in Saran Wrap, and threw it in the Vick 2000 Indoor setup for 5 days. Each morning and each night, Vick reapplied the Sole Revive to really deoxidize this outsole.
The results speak for themselves on this one. If you have the time and patience to work on a yellow outsole there’s no reason you shouldn’t be able to make them icy again with RESHOEVN8R Sole Revive.
The Air Jordan 11 is known for its shiny patent leather toe box, but 6 years of improper care has left our Space Jam Jordan 11s looking dull. In order to bring back the shine of the Air Jordan 11’s patent leather, Vick used a RESHOEVN8R Sneaker Wipe to clean it up, and then used RESHOEVN8R Mink Oil and an electronic buffer to polish it until he could see his reflection in it.
The last detail we really need to focus on is the sockliner, which is full of lint. Nothing a swipe of Vick’s trusty lint shaver can’t fix!
I Need Some Space
Is there anything Vick can’t restore? If so, we haven’t found it yet!
The Space Jam Jordan 11 is such an iconic colorway of a legendary Air Jordan silhouette. It’s only fitting that the most legendary sneaker customizer was able to bring this pair back to life.
Dirty Jordan 11s? Never heard of her. Using the proper tools and a little bit patience, you too can restore your Air Jordan 11s. This isn’t one of those “don’t try this at home” skits. You SHOULD try this at home with every pair of Jordans in your collection!
