R8: Before we dive in, our readers would love to “get to know you” a bit better. Can you tell us a bit about your ‘backstory’ and how you got started?
TSK: Backstory is simple, we pretty much started reselling just like everyone else because we realized there was an insatiable demand for the kicks we would have on our feet, so we felt the need to maximize on this opportunity. We noticed as we scaled up our business that our products were more exclusive and harder to find than the typical pairs on the resell market. We had a unique relationship with credible individuals on obtaining early pairs and exclusive releases. So we realized our demand outweighed our supply. This was the creation of TSK. Essentially putting all of our clients into one community space to have access to the exclusivity in “Obtaining the unattainable.” Little did we know it would become an organic, family like atmosphere. It became a mini social media platform in a sense. We have both been Collectively reselling for over 20 years, who would have thought we would be providing such a unique platform for others to utilize our connections and help scale their own resell businesses. Once Covid struck, e-commerce was the inevitable solution and so here we are. Welcome to TSK! (The Sneaker Knockerz).
R8: What do you think makes your company stand out? Can you share a story?
TSK: Sneaker Knockerz is the most affordable and inclusive discord available to sneakerheads. We strive to offer a family-like environment that is geared towards helping sneakerheads cop the most exclusive shoes they want without spending an arm and a leg! We make sure to provide all the tools necessary so that Saturday’s don’t have to be “Sadderdays”! We offer an assortment of tools and information that assist the everyday sneakerhead can utilize in gaining a competitive advantage on release day. We have seen much success from our practices and we continue to hone our skills every day to provide the most efficient experience possible.
R8: None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?
TSK: It’s difficult to pinpoint an individual in particular as we have collectively forged many long standing partnerships throughout the journey but we definitely agree, it takes a village! None of this would be possible without the loyal support of our members and closest friends.
R8: Why sneakers? What made you open a sneaker discord? What are the biggest moments in your discord’s history?
TSK: Sneakerheads are a community unlike any other. The “sneaker game” is becoming more technological on a day by day basis, especially with Covid shutting down lots of retail locations. Sneaker Knockerz stemmed from more people spending time at home and online during this pandemic. Discord offers the perfect platform for an individual to essentially become alive in an organic chat room. One of the biggest moments in our history is when we surpassed 1 million in total transactions that have taken place inside the discord. It has become one of the largest buy and sell networks in the game!
R8: What was your first experience that you can remember, at a sneaker store? Or a sneaker convention?
TSK: There are so many to choose from, however, we would say SneakerCon Atlanta in 2017 where we were actually four tables down from Reshoevn8r and had three of our own tables. It was a great event, I remember we sold about 80 pairs of Pirate Black Yeezy’s and approximately 20 pairs of ‘Chicago’ Off White Jordan 1s.
R8: Tell us about your closet… What are some of your favorite sneakers you own right now? Was there a pair that got away, that you wish you would have snagged when you had the chance?
TSK: Funny you ask, by running such a large online sneaker community we have had the chance to get back some of the fun shoes that got away. For example, the Jasper from the Kanye and Louis Vuitton collab and the “Day of The Dead” Nike SB Dunks. One of our current favorites is the Air Jordan 1 ‘‘Solefly’ collabs, we are fortunate enough to have both colorways including the friends and family edition.
R8: Where do you see sneaker culture going in the future and what are your thoughts?
TSK: Believe it or not, it’s only up from here. Sneaker culture has transcended beyond just sneakers and into everyday life. Even in the midst of a global pandemic, people have quit their day jobs and pivoted towards the full-time reselling of sneakers. It’s no longer a hobby, it's become a lifestyle. The culture has become deeply embedded into every aspect of day to day life.
R8: If someone wanted to start a true sneaker collection.. What's the first pair that you would recommend? What pairs do sneakerheads NEED to have in their collection?
TSK: If you’re reselling or collecting, Jordan 1s (both mids and highs) are great investment shoes and shoes to flip. The margin a seller gets from selling even something less hype like mids is much larger than many other shoes. We actually teach more about this inside of our discord as part of our Resell University and have a book to help both collectors and resellers coming in 2021. If you’re only collecting, the Jordan 1 is and always will be a classic!
R8: What is your favorite release from 2020 so far?
TSK: The Grateful Dead collab with Nike SB stands out for us in 2020. At the time, it was the most anticipated release that was a cross hype from sneakerheads, skaters and deadheads (grateful dead fans). It really put us on the map with being able to secure the most limited shoes on the planet. Nobody had the orange pair which was only released in one shop in the whole world, FTC San Francisco. We had over 10 pairs in our possession on release day! Collectively we had over 100 pairs of the Grateful Dead’s in general, exclusive to our discord members.
