How to Clean Suede Nike Dunks

Cleaning Suede Nike Shoes doesn’t have to be difficult. Today I’m going to teach you how to clean suede Nike Dunks with a few of the best sneaker cleaning products in the world.

I’ll let you in on a little-known secret in regards to cleaning suede Nike shoes…you CAN get them wet. Yes, that thing you’ve been told about never letting your suede get wet isn’t exactly true. While we recommend cleaning your suede shoes with a Dry Suede Kit where possible, sometimes that just won’t cut it.

As is the case with this pair of Fossil Rose Nike Dunks that we’ll be demonstrating on. The all suede Dunks are too dirty to tackle with a dry cleaning alone. To clean up these suede shoes and get them back on their way, we’re going to be utilizing the RESHOEVN8R Essential Shoe Cleaning Kit

So if you’ve already tried to clean your suede Nike shoes with the Dry Suede Kit and still haven’t achieved the results you’re looking for, grab an Essential Kit and do the follow along!

Dry before Wet

First, dry brush the sneaker to get rid of any loose dirt. As soon as you start cleaning with water the dirt will turn into a muddy mess unless you brush it away.

Go ahead and start cleaning the shoes with the Soft Bristle Brush. Dip it into the water and Solution mixture, let the excess water drip off of the brush, and begin scrubbing. Stop periodically to dry the sneaker off with the included Microfiber Towel. This is a MUST when cleaning suede, as it will help us avoid that nasty oversaturation and color bleed.

Now take the Medium Brush and clean the midsole. This step is pretty straightforward, as most of the suede Nike shoes out there have plain rubber or foam midsoles. Repeat the same process for the outsole and then let the shoes dry completely.

Soft and Supple

When you clean suede sneakers with water it will inevitably make the suede less soft, or in some cases, crunchy. Don’t panic! The RESHOEVN8R Brass Bristle Brush was made to combat this exact problem. A few soft strokes of the Brass Bristle Brush will have your suede feeling buttery soft in no time at all.

While you’re at it, finish the shoes off with some trusty RESHOEVN8R Mink Oil. Our Mink Oil is specially formulated to recondition leather and bring back color on suede. A few coats of Mink Oil will go a long way in keeping your suede sneakers looking fresh.

That wasn’t that hard. Stop believing everything you hear online. Sometimes cleaning your suede Nike shoes with water and sneaker cleaning solution is the ONLY way to get box fresh results.

Now You Try

Remember these three keys, and you’ll be well on your way to mastering the art of cleaning suede shoes:

  1. Don’t oversaturate the material. Dry the suede as often as you can with a soft microfiber towel.
  2. Use the Brass Bristle Brush and Mink Oil to revive the texture and color of the suede.
  3. Prevent suede damage in the first place with RESHOEVN8R Water + Stain Repellent.
