Nike Air Mag: The Future is Now October 05 2016, 0 Comments

The Nike Air Mag retains its title as one of the most Iconic sneakers to bear the Swoosh. First introduced in the 1989 classic, Back to The Future Part II, the Air Mag was Marty McFly’s signature item of clothing. The silhouette imposed a revolutionary spin on the future of Nike’s footwear products. Complete with a hands-free power lacing system, and LED lights, the Air Mag continues to capture the hearts of sneaker enthusiasts across the globe. The allure of advanced technology in conjunction with a sleek silhouette has proven hard to resist.
Subsequently, high demand has driven prices through the rough. Aware of their product’s widespread appeal, Nike chooses to launch the product under the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. In 2011, auction style releases via Ebay, occurred over a 10-day period. Over 15,000 pairs were sold,  raising a totaling of $5,695,190.53. It should be noted that the 2011 released didn’t include the famed power lacing system. Rumors circulated, hinting at a 2015 release that would include the auto-lacing mechanism. Considering October 21, 2015, is the day Marty McFly arrived in the future, this speculation wasn’t far off.
Periodic teasers of an October 2015 release date rolled into the next year. A year later we have confirmation of two opportunities to potentially get your hands on a pair. For residents of the U.S. and Canada, Nike’s releasing 89 pairs through a digital raffle. While it only cost $10 to enter, participants are encouraged to buy multiple tickets. Realistically, this is the average Sneakerhead’s best opportunity to finally seize a pair. Although we’ll be algorithmically competing against millions of other contestants, there’s still a chance to snag some for around $10! The drawing will remain open until October 11, just 6 days before winners are announced.
Per usual, several pairs of the Nike Air Mag 2016 will be live auctioned in three cities. Hong Kong’s auction will take place October 11. London’s two auctions will take place October 14th and 17th. Lastly, New York’s auction will take place November 12th. Tweets, teasers, and live demonstrations of the sneaker’s auto-lacing system make the Nike Air Mag 2016 the most anticipated sneaker of the year. Inevitable street cred is an instant side effect of scoring some Mags in your size. Should you happen to scoop a pair, remember to cherish them in the name of Parkinson’s Research. Any contribution to the Michael J. Fox Foundation makes the decision to drop unthinkable amounts of bread on a sneaker more respectable. On the other hand, do we really need justification? May the odds be ever in your favor!
