Jordan Brand Honors Kobe Bryant With Sneakers February 19 2016, 0 Comments

There’s always and will always be debates about which player is better. The NBA themed debates commonly featured Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. More often than not, these stars respect one another and the rivalry is between the fans, not the players.

Mike and Kobe have a pretty close bond. With the All-Star Weekend in Toronto, the theme was honoring Kobe and his last All-Star Game. Jordan Brand unveiled a special tribute the retiring superstar.

In two full sets (Air Jordan I through XXX), the Air Jordan line was recreated in the white and black. Two pairs were highlighted in the Los Angeles Lakers color. Kobe was gifted the one-of-a-kind set in white.

The other set featured a blackout colorway. That set was auctioned off and ended at $240,100 USD via eBay. The proceeds went to the Kobe and Vanessa Bryant Family Foundation.

To clarify, Jordan made 60 pairs of shoes to honor Kobe. 30 went to auction for charity and the other 30 belongs to the Bryant family. All shoes came in Bryant’s size 14.

Broken down, each pair is worth a little above $8,000 USD. Of course, some sneakers are more coveted than others and their individual values would range.
