Paul Pierce's Philosophy on Sneakers

Posted by Steven Quach on

Paul Pierce is ring chasing. Now with the Los Angeles Clippers, "The Truth" is paired up with his former head coach, Doc Rivers. His former team, the Washington Wizards held Media Day and Jorge Castillo spoke with the Polish Hammer, Marcin Gortat. The beat writer then asked Gortat what he had learned from Pierce. Gortat answered with "not to wear LeBron's James's shoes to practice."

As obnoxious and loud as Pierce can get in the Playoffs ("This is why I'm here" and "I called game"), we have to agree with him on this one.

Like Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors was faced with this kind of dilemma. All year, he was wearing the LeBron Soliders until the NBA Finals. Green ditched the LeBrons while facing Cleveland in the NBA Finals and don some Finals editions of the Hyperdunk 2014.

As a basketball player going head to head with another superstar, you can't give them any satisfaction. Knowing that your opponent wears your gear because it's the best on the market boosts the ego and confidence.

Imagine going toe-to-toe with Michael Jordan and you're winning the battle. You begin to talk trash until he tells you to look down: "You have my name on your feet. You chose my shoes over all the other alternative options because it's the best, just like my game." Just like that, the mind games and confidence roll into his court.
