New Orleans Pelicans New Uniforms For Mardi Gras

Posted by Steven Quach on

New Orleans and Mardi Gras go hand-in-hand like hot dog and bun. The Pelicans revealed their latest alternate uniform with the carnival theme. Like the 2009 debut, the Pelicans (then the Hornets) will don a purple jersey with NOLA across the chest. Unlike the 2009 version, the jerseys will be sleeved and completely purple rather than green on the back and purple on the front.

With Alvin Gentry to coach the team, they'll look to get past the first round in the ultra tough Western Conference. Anthony Davis has proven to be a worthy franchise player with tons of room to improve. Apparently, in this offseason, he's been working on a three point jumper to give him an all around presence on the court.

According to the Pelicans' team page, the team is scheduled to wear them six times through the season:

"Jan. 30 will mark the on-court debut of the uniforms when the Pelicans host Brooklyn. New Orleans will also wear the jerseys at home against Memphis on Feb. 1 and then again at home against the Los Angeles Lakers on Feb. 4.
The Lakers game will be the Pelicans' celebration of Mardi Gras and will be broadcast live on TNT. It also takes place the same night as the Krewe of Muses parade.
Prior to the Lakers game, New Orleans will first wear the jerseys on the road at San Antonio Feb. 3 and then on Feb. 6 at Cleveland and again on Lundi Gras, Feb. 8, at Minnesota."
