End of an Era: Jeremy Guthrie Retires From Sneakers February 25 2015, 0 Comments

The Kansas City Royals became America's darlings and forced an unforgettable game 7 in the 2014 World Series. Unfortunately, it would turn out to be the San Francisco Giants' year once again. Jeremy Guthrie played a large role with that squad; as a starting pitcher for the Royals, Guthrie went 13-11 with a 4.13 ERA and struck out 124 batters. Rightfully so, baseball players don't usually shine or stunt with the kicks game as often as basketball players.

Jordan Brand athletes such as CC Sabathia and Deion Sanders get hooked up with PE cleats of classic Air Jordans but that's a story for another day. Guthrie didn't let that stop him as he would get his favorite kicks custom cleated in order for him to don on the mound. Guthrie has been spotted in the Air Jordan 1 Infrared and the royal color way of the Nike Air Foamposites.

Guthrie isn't a chump who would only buy new releases. He actually contained knowledge of the sneaker game and collected heat. In a sneak peek segment with Nicekicks, his sneaker collection was actually contained in a vault!

Guthrie took it to YouTube to announce his retirement from the kicks game. In a Michael Jordan-esque press conference, Guthrie lined the table up with coveted sneakers like the Nike Air Mags and multiple popular Jordan 1s color ways. On top of that, his audience featured more of his sneakers such as the Air Jordan Doernebecher collection and multiple pairs of Nike Yeezys.

The video continues takes a look back at his sneaker career. Guthrie's collection is definitely worth spending your time scoping out. With that said, it's completely understandable that Guthrie may be ready to walk away.  Leaving the game is never easy; hopefully we'll see Jeremy back in the game sooner than later.
