Nike Dunk High Year of the Horse "CNY"
Inspired by the red envelopes exchanged during the Lunar New Year, the CNY Dunk High is spot on. Envelopes usually contain gold designs on the front. Most of the upper consists of suede with leather on the heel panel and Swoosh. The CNY are shoo-in to break necks and to receive complements during this time of year.
Nike KD 4 Year of the Dragon
Arguably the most popular KD model, the KD 4 was a fan favorite especially in this color-way. Don't forget the KD 4s retailed for only $90 and came about during the rise of his career. With its blue upper, the shoes have been compared to water and the strap also has designs that look like waves. Another underlying detail is the water dragon intertwining with the KD logo found on the heel.
Nike Kobe 8 Year of the Snake (Set)
Red Suede EXT
The Kobe 8s were blessed to receive three solid color ways. In case you missed the "Black Mamba" and the "Year of the Snake" connection, Nike knew they had to do something bigger than usual. The entire pack was released on the same day making it tough for buyers to purchase the entire set. On top of the Port Wines (which were created with the intent of basketball), the Black EXT pair features a snake skin upper and an icy translucent sole. The shoes were made with one thing in mind: to impress. The Red Suedes are also an EXT model with the intent of looking good. The buttery soft suede upper is soft to the touch and comes with a special Kobe signature on the heel.
Nike Kobe 7 Year of the Dragon
The creative minds at Nike went above and beyond for the Year of the Dragon release. With a red, green and yellow combination; the Kobes bring out the essence of a fire breathing dragon. Like the other themed Kobe 7s, these featured an animal on the heel also. On the back heel, these featured a classic golden dragon.
Air Jordan 7 Year of the Rabbit
The Year of the Rabbit or should we call them the Year of the Hares? For those who go way back, Bugs Bunny was a great partner for MJ and his marketing team. From commercials to Space Jam, the Bugs had Mike's back. Although these weren't the Hare 7s, the YOTR did a great job in staying subtle yet loud. Like the YOTD Kobe 7s, Jordan Brand knew to go big for the packaging too.
